Kitchen Design and Installation for Loughton Homes, Old and New
One of the most frequent enquiries we receive from Loughton clients is how to open up a small rear kitchen in a 1930s semi, particularly around Debden, where the original layout put a narrow galley next to a separate dining room that no longer suits the way the household lives. Whatever the property, the answer starts the same way: a design built around your space, not a catalogue layout squeezed to fit it.
Loughton has a real mix of housing – post-war homes on the Debden estate, inter-war semis, Victorian and Edwardian houses near the High Road, and newer builds – so no single kitchen layout suits everyone. Being independent means we are not tied to one manufacturer, so a Loughton kitchen can be a sensible-budget replacement, a luxury fit-out as part of a full renovation, or a practical office kitchen – each specified from our full range.
If you are knocking a small kitchen and dining room into one, a German kitchen is worth a look. Handleless doors, slim profiles and tight tolerances keep a smaller room feeling calm and uncluttered, while solid carcasses and quality runners stand up to busy family life. Call to talk it through, or see the ranges and finishes for yourself at our Ongar showroom with a free design consultation.
Design Your Kitchen and Installation Project
Designer Kitchens for Loughton, Planned Around How You Actually Use the Space
In Loughton, the challenge is often making a modest kitchen work harder rather than adding space. We plan the layout around how you cook and live first, then choose the cabinetry – bespoke fitted kitchens, painted solid wood or a vinyl range – to suit the room and the budget.
That could mean turning a narrow galley into an L-shape with a peninsula once a wall comes down, adding tall larder units where a chimney breast used to be, or tucking the washing machine into a utility cupboard so the kitchen stays a kitchen. The sink, hob and fridge stay close together, so everyday cooking gets easier, not just the look.
Small kitchens benefit most from good appliances. Through AEG, Miele, Franke and Quooker, a compact Loughton kitchen can have a combination oven, an induction hob with built-in extraction or a boiling-water tap that frees up worktop space, finished with stone or quartz worktops. We offer two types of service:
Supply only
We supply your kitchen, and you hire an independent kitchen fitter for your project, who can fit cabinetry, worktops, and appliances.

Frequently asked questions
Which bespoke kitchen company serves Loughton?
Kitchens by Guy serves Loughton as an independent bespoke kitchen company, designing, supplying and fitting kitchens from its Ongar showroom and workshop about nine miles away. Projects start with a free design consultation, and every kitchen is made to order around the room and budget rather than pulled from a catalogue, whether that is a 1930s semi in Debden or a larger detached house towards Church Hill.
Why choose an independent kitchen company in Loughton?
Because an independent kitchen company is not limited to one manufacturer’s shelf. Loughton clients can have whichever range, worktop or appliance suits the room, and the person who designs the kitchen stays the point of contact through to fitting, supported by a dedicated project coordinator.
Do you provide kitchen and installation services in Loughton?
Yes. Loughton clients can book full kitchen supply and installation managed from a single point of contact, or choose supply only and use their own fitter. Every kitchen is made to order in the Ongar workshop, then scheduled for delivery and fitting once it is ready.
Who installs the kitchen for Loughton projects?
Our own kitchen installer team fits everything on site in Loughton, managing the job from first fix through to final finish. The team works from the same measurements and layout the designer created, with the electrician, plumber and any structural work sequenced around the kitchen fit.
Can Kitchens by Guy work as a kitchen supplier only in Loughton?
Yes. If you have your own installer, or intend to fit the kitchen yourself, we work as your trusted kitchen supplier in Loughton, providing made-to-order cabinetry, worktops and appliances alongside the free design service, while your fitter carries out the installation.
Can you open up a small kitchen and dining room in a Loughton semi?
Yes. Once your builder has confirmed the wall can come out, we design the new room as one space – often with a peninsula or small island – so the kitchen, dining area and storage work together rather than feeling like two rooms joined up. German handleless ranges are a popular choice here because they keep the combined room looking clean.
Do you work on older houses near the High Road and Epping Forest?
Yes. Older Loughton houses often have uneven walls, chimney breasts and higher ceilings, which is where made-to-order cabinetry helps. Units are sized to the room, filler panels are kept to a minimum, and tall units can be made to suit the ceiling height. Winslow and Arrington suit a traditional look; Zola and Zola Handleless suit a modern one.
Do you cover Debden, Loughton Broadway and High Beach?
Yes. We design, supply and fit kitchens across Debden, Loughton Broadway, High Beach and the rest of Loughton, as well as Theydon Bois, Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell, all from our Ongar showroom.
Is there a kitchen showroom serving Loughton?
